Israeli Ambassador to Macedonia in a Momentous Vvisit to Seeach Sod
Seeach Sod has partnered with the Israeli ambassador to Macedonia in commemorating the Jewish community in Macedonia that was completely destroyed in the Holocaust.
As part of this unique initiative, Ambassador Dan Oryan toured the vocational programs, respite center, and day-hab programs at Seeach Sod’s main campus in Jerusalem, along with Dr. Rachel S.Levy- Drumer, Secretary of Academic Affairs at Bar Ilan University and the administration of Ginzach Kiddush Hashem.
The ambassador was particularly impressed by the partnership with outside employers and the laundromat that is operated by Seeach Sod’s adults. Chaim Hirshman, Director of Seeach Sod’s Welfare Department, explained that Seeach Sod’s goal is to enable these men to find employment in the free market. The in-house employment is a means of training them in work skills so that they can move on to employment in other locations.
Rabbi Shimon Levy, CEO of Seeach Sod, told Ambassador Oryan about the importance of the Respite Center, which provides services to any children and adults with disabilities – not only students of Seeach Sod – and enables parents to rest assured that their children are being provided for in a warm, pleasant, and safe environment
In the tour of the Day-Hab Centers, the ambassador was shown the technology used to provide maximum communication and mobility. The ambassador even joined the older adults in the exercise room with a surprise headstand which he performed for them! The participants in the tour were also impressed by the Snoezelen rooms and the professional social workers on site.
At the conclusion of the tour, Ambassador Oryan recounted his amazement at the wide range of professional services provided by Seeach Sod and expressed hope for fruitful partnership between Seeach Sod’s employment programs and Macedonia.
