Seeach Sod enables people with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives. Our schools, day centers, respite center and supported housing (just to name a few), shape the daily lives of 1,800 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
With deadly missile attacks a constant danger in the north and south of Israel, families are at the breaking point. Caring for a child who is frightened but cannot understand and needs to be moved quickly to shelter over and over, is wearing out parents. Families in places like Sderot have been evacuated from their homes and are trying to set up new routines in a new place. For many children, especially those with autism, a change in routine can trigger very challenging behavior.
To lighten the load and give these children and their heroic parents a bit of calm, Seeach Sod has set up a comprehensive mental and emotional support system for the children and adults geared to help them process the experience of family members on the front lines or the loss of relatives, as well as to help treat trauma, anxiety and behavioral issues. The professional team allow the children and adults to express themselves and release their pain in ways that were difficult or impossible for them while building up their stability, trust, and mental resilience through these difficult times.
