Mothers’ Night at Yeshivat Otzar HaTorah-Jerusalem
Mothers of students at Yeshivat Otzar HaTorah were recently invited to hear from school staff regarding the roles of different staff members in the yeshiva.
The most significant role of all of the staff is to improve independence and vocational abilities, which are crucial for the students’ future quality of life. Pedagogic advisor Mrs. Sh. Kaufman explained the partnership between the paramedical staff and the educational staff. Speech therapist Mrs. M. Cohen emphasized that most of her work in the yeshiva takes place in the classroom, where she focuses on social and conversation skills, play skills, and optimal use of language. The paramedical staff guides the teachers so that they can help maximize the students’ abilities. The mothers raised many suggestions and discussed ideas for monthly meetings with the staff in the months to come.
The mothers also watched presentations about the yeshiva’s vision and the afternoon activities. The evening concluded with a tour of the activity rooms, including choir, photography, ceramics, electronics, and educational games, and the exercise and relaxation areas outside.
